The golf team finished eighth at the NCAA tournament this past weekend, playing to a combined score of 11 strokes over par. Freshman Chesson Hadley tied for fourth and sophomore Cameron Tringale tied for ninth in the individual standings.

Earlier in the tournament, senior Roberto Castro was named a co-recipient of the Byron Nelson award (awarded to the top graduating senior golfer). Chesson, Tringale and Castro were also all named to the PING All-South Region team. Castro and Tringale were named to the All-American second team while Chesson gained an honorable mention.

Tech sent 10 members of the track and field team to compete in the NCAAs this week in Sacramento. Four members of the men's team and six of the women's qualified for the competition. Three of the male athletes are making their first appearance at the tournament. Tech has athletes qualified in eight events held during the course of the championships.

Notable athletes include All-American Ashlee Kidd, who will compete in the 400-meter dash, and 60-meter hurdle national champion Shantia Moss, who is aiming for a second national championship in the 100-meter hurdles.
