Tech's men's and women's tennis teams were in action again this past weekend as the women traveled to Winston-Salem and Raleigh to face Wake Forest and N.C. State, while the men stayed home to face off against the same opposition.

The Lady Jackets were able to win both of their matches with ease with a 5-2 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday, and an even easier 6-1 victory over N.C. State on Sunday, giving them their ninth win in a row.

The men had more troubles again this weekend, losing a tough battle 4-3 to N.C. State on Friday, and then losing in a 5-1 rout on Saturday by Wake Forest.

The women have not lost a team match since they lost their first ACC match of the season at Clemson on March 3, 4-3.

Meanwhile, the men have put up a similar streak, as they have not won a tennis match since Clemson when they did so on March 7, winning 4-3. The losing streak is now up to nine.

After the win for the women, the Lady Jackets record improves to 17-4 overall and 8-1 in ACC play putting them in a tie for first with Clemson in the conference standings going into the final weekend of conference play. Clemson holds the tiebreaker with the victory over Tech in their one matchup.

The men's record falls to 5-14 overall and 2-7 in ACC play, placing them in a tie for ninth with two other teams.

In the women's teams' victories, the team clinched the match against Wake Forest by winning four straight singles matches after losing the doubles point.

Against the Wolfpack, the Jackets won four straight matches, including the doubles point, to win the match very quickly.

In the mens team's two losses, their toughest loss came against No. 20 ranked N.C. State. In the match, the Jackets were in a see-saw battle with the Wolfpack all match long. N.C. State started by winning the doubles point.

After that the Jackets and Wolfpack alternated victories in the singles matches that followed until N.C. State's Andre Iriarte was able to put away Tech's Austin Roebuck 6-1, 7-6 to decide the final singles match and give N.C. State the final point they needed to win.

The women finish up conference play tomorrow in Virginia as they take on the Hokies of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Saturday and the Cavaliers of Virginia on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the men also take their game on the road against the Maryland Terrapins today and the Boston College Eagles to finish their regular season on Sunday.

The ACC Tournament will be next week and will be held in Cary, N.C.
