It was the usual suspects for the Tech Track team, as the men's and women's teams competed in their second outdoor competition at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Ashlee Kidd, Shantia Moss and James Lemons III each earned three of the nine first-place finishes for Tech during the meet. As a surprise, Steve Marcelle set the school record in the shot put.

Kidd, coming off her third-place finish at the Indoor Championships, started her outdoor track season just where she left off her indoor season, finishing first and second in the 400 and 200 meter dashes respectively. Kidd qualified for the NCAA Regionals in both races, which were her first two races of the Outdoor season.

Kidd's female running mate, Moss, was not too far behind in terms of impressiveness. Moss won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.25 seconds, also qualifying her for the NCAA Regionals.

But for all the stellar performances by the Yellow Jackets on the clay, there was an even more outstanding collection of performances by the Tech field competitors.

On the men's side Lemons won both the long jump and triple jump, breaking his own personal record in the triple jump with a jump of 51 feet 8.5 inches.

Lemons' records weren't the only to fall as Jerome Miller and Steve Marcelle each broke school records with first place finishes. Miller won the high jump, while breaking his own school record with a jump of 7 feet 6-inches. Marcelle also broke a school record with a 60 feet ½ inch throw to win the men's shot put. His dominant performance was recognized by the ACC, as he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week.

The men weren't the only ones claiming first-place finishes, as the women claimed two field event victories. Kimery Hern won the women's hammer throw by breaking the school record with a throw of 189 feet.

She qualified for the NCAA Regionals and broke the previous school record she set last weekend, by five inches. Samantha Musil also had a strong weekend finishing first in the shot put and third in discus. She broke personal records in both events.

Tech's next competition will be this weekend in Auburn, Ala. at the Auburn Invitational.
