SGA proposes JFC policy changes
A new policy to govern the allocation of student activity fees by the Student Government Association's (SGA) Joint Finance Committee (JFC) was recently proposed and passed in the Undergraduate House of Representatives (UHR) and the Graduate Student Senate (GSS). However the two passed different versions of the bill and will have to work out the differences starting this week with a conference committee.
Brain Train pursues support, funding
A new mass transit system that will stretch from downtown to Athens and will connect several of the major universities in the metro area is seeking funding from the state and federal government to build the project. Dubbed the Brain Train because of its proximity to several of the city's universities, the project has created the College Board for the Brain Train, comprised of representatives from each of the universities, in order to promote the project on the various campus and to gain support to show to Congress.
Jackets cruise in Regency
The Jackets swept all three opponents this weekend en route to the Regency Suites Midtown Invitational Championship. The team improved their overall record to 8-2 and 6-1 at home by beating South Florida (30-25, 30-21, 30-17), Stetson (30-20, 30-24, 30-28) and Sam Houston State (30-21, 31-29, 30-23). These were the final tune-ups before the ACC season begins this weekend. Junior outside hitter Lindsey Gray led the team with 25 kills.
