Students lobby for tax-free textbooks

Students may soon be purchasing textbooks tax-free if House Bill 1397 passes. The bill, currently in the second reading in the Georgia House of Representatives, would remove state sales tax from textbook sales in the state. The bill is a product of the efforts of the Student Lobby Board (SLB), Bill Hembree, the Higher Education Committee chair from Villa Rica and Representative Brooks Coleman from Duluth.

ISyE receives $20 million commitment

Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) has received a commitment of $20 million from alumnus H. Milton Stewart and his wife Carolyn. The commitment will give the college unrestricted use of the money.

Top-ranked Diamond Jackets remain undefeated

The last time the Tech baseball team was ranked No. 1 in the nation the Jackets failed to deliver in the national spotlight, going 2-2 against sub-par teams. This time, the Jackets did not fail but passed with flying colors. Since achieving the top ranking in the country by the USA Today top 25 coaches’ poll, the Jackets are an impressive 4-0, defeating opponents by a combined score of 50-15.
