Junior Stephanie Higgs led the Jackets in scoring against Duke. Her 21 points and ten rebounds was her third career double-double.

After starting the season with a record of 12-1, the women's basketball team now rides a five-game losing streak, after playing tougher competition. The Jackets are still searching for their first win against an ACC school, as they currently are 0-4 in the conference.

On Wed. Jan. 11, the No. 2 team in the nation, the Duke Blue Devils, came to town to face the Jackets.

Duke left with the 67-59 win, but the Jackets held the Blue Devils to the fewest points of the season. Also, this was the smallest margin of victory for Duke this year.

Stephanie Higgs picked up the double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. For Higgs, it was the third double-double of her career.

On Wednesday, Jan. 18 the Jackets faced the North Carolina Tar Heels, the No. 4 team in the nation. The Tar Heels beat the Jackets 85-56.

North Carolina's Elana Larkins scored 22 points, including going 14-14 from the free-throw line. For the Jackets, Janie Mitchell and Jill Ingram scored 12 points each to lead the team. Jacqua Williams scored seven points and pulled in five boards against the Tar Heels.

The next game for the Jackets is this Sunday against Wake Forest at 1 p.m. in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
